The Sacred Heart
The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is rooted in the powerful vision experienced by Saint Marguerite Marie Alacoque in 1673. In this vision, Jesus revealed His heart, aflame with love for humanity. He explained that His heart is on fire for love of us, but every time someone ignores or refuses that love, it causes Him immense pain, as if thorns were piercing His physical heart. This imagery encapsulates both His boundless love and the suffering He endures for the sake of human souls.
This artwork captures the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a radiant symbol of divine love, compassion, and mercy. Depicted with a crown of thorns encircling His heart and flames emerging from it, Christ’s Sacred Heart is an invitation to draw closer to His love and to offer our own love in return.
